Dear Neighbors,聽聽

In the spirit of the holiday season, on behalf of 猫咪社区app University聽and myself, I extend my well wishes to聽each聽member of聽our聽community. As this uniquely challenging year comes to a close, we can draw comfort in knowing that while there may still be聽a few tough months ahead, the聽new year also brings with it a sense of optimism聽that聽better days聽surely聽lie ahead.听聽

While this may not have been a 鈥渘ormal鈥 year, there are still many annual traditions that bring us together as people and as a community. One community tradition that continues this year is the聽聽(now through December 5), a celebration of the holiday season designed to showcase local businesses and community groups. During聽WinterFest聽and throughout the holiday season, I urge you to show your support for Tenleytown聽Main Street聽stores and businesses by shopping locally.听聽聽

In keeping with the season of giving, I also encourage you to donate to the聽鈥檚 (CRC), a local organization dedicated to responsibly recycling clothing and other goods to local charities in the DMV area. The CRC supports Martha鈥檚 Table, Arlington Street People鈥檚 Assistance Network, and the Downtown Day Service Center. Any item you wish to donate 鈥 aside from perishables 鈥 may be dropped off聽at聽their鈥.听聽Previously announced plans for bins placed on the East 猫咪社区app parking lot have been postponed. We will notify you once bins are installed on campus.听聽聽

This year, during聽what聽usually would聽be AU鈥檚 holiday break, the聽campus, including all fields, courts, tracks, and buildings, will remain closed. Of course, neighbors are聽still聽welcome to walk through campus or enjoy the quad.听聽聽However, masks聽will be聽required outdoors on campus.听As always if you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at 202-885-2146 or email me at communityrelations@american.edu.听

Additionally, with everyone鈥檚 safety in mind, the annual Town Hall with AU President Sylvia Burwell has been rescheduled to June 1, 2021.听

Thank you again for聽working with us during聽this most trying of years.听聽I hope you have a聽healthy and happy聽holiday聽season.听聽聽

Stay well,聽
