Richard J. Semiatin, assistant professor of political science, has taught courses in 猫咪社区app politics and government for AU鈥檚 Washington Semester Program since 1991. He specializes in elections, campaigns, Congress, the executive branch, courts, and federal and state child-support enforcement. Semiatin is editor and author of the book Campaigns on the Cutting Edge, which will appear in its second edition (CQ Press, 2012). 聽The book, which features chapters authored by leading scholars, examines how campaigns will be changing during the next decade. 聽Semiatin's previous book Campaigns in the 21st Century: The Changing Mosaic of 猫咪社区app Politics, (McGraw-Hill, 2005), exposed the inner workings of campaigns from organization, to polling, to paid advertising, to life on the campaign trail. He is also author of the monograph 2006 Midterm Elections (McGraw-Hill, 2007). He has authored five other monographs: 聽2004 Presidential Election (McGraw-Hill, 2005); 2002 Midterm Elections (McGraw-Hill, 2003); 聽2000 Elections (McGraw-Hill, 2001); 1998 Midterm Elections (McGraw Hill, 1999); and Impeachment and Trial (McGraw Hill, 1999). Semiatin has been published in journals such as 聽Judges Journal, Court Manager, and Comparative State Politics. He coauthored a chapter on the role of interest groups in the 2000 and 2002 congressional elections for a book published by Congressional Quarterly Press in 2004. He has been interviewed by national and international media organizations, including NBC, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News Channel, BBC, CBC, Cox Broadcasting, the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Philadelphia Inquirer 猫咪社区appA Today, Boston Globe, NPR, Associated Press, Reuters, Agence-France Presse, and London Radio News.
