Communication December 5, 2024
Dear AU community,Â
As the fall semester ends, we are writing to share updates on our dining program and highlight upcoming improvements for the spring 2025 semester.Â
During the past semester, we completed the renovation of the Terrace Dining Room (TDR), reopening the venue on time for the start of the fall 2025 semester. The renovation was the first complete remodel of TDR in more than 40 years, and focuses heavily on inclusive dining with best-in-class allergen free, avoiding gluten, and kosher stations for our community. As part of the renovation, we also revamped our dining advisory committee, into a new comprising student leaders, meal plan holders, and student customers. The new board began meeting this semester and will strengthen student involvement in our dining program planning.
Next semester, we are excited to announce the following initiatives, designed to continue to enhance our program and services for the AU community:
New Student Organization and Panera Catering
We’re introducing a catering , as well as Panera catering options for campus pickup. These offerings aim to provide more affordable and convenient catering solutions for the AU community.
Expanded  U-Club Events for our Faculty and Staff
This fall, we launched a series of events to engage our faculty and staff members at the newly opened University Club (U-Club). Fun events like Quiz Pro Quo, Prose and Cons, and more Meet and Eat lunches will be returning this spring.
Introducing Arepa Zone Through Eagle Made
Arepa Zone, a local business started by AU alumna Gabriela Febres, CAS/BA ’12, is joining our . In the spring, look out for Arepa Zone products in Eagles Express and in TDR as station takeover.
TDR Decoration Working Group
The Dining Program is currently working with a cross-campus stakeholder group to help decorate TDR. The group plans to identify artwork, memorabilia, and archival pieces to place in TDR and ensure the décor is broadly representative of AU’s community and history.Â
As always, we invite the AU community to contact us at mealplans@american.edu with questions or comments, and you can find more information online at .ÌýÌý
Onward we go, together! Â Â
