Bio
Carletta Taylor Sims is currently serving as a Postdoctoral Scholar and Professorial Lecturer in the Department of Public Administration and Policy. She teaches courses in financing government services and budgeting and financial management. Dr. Sims obtained her doctorate in Public Affairs with majors in Policy Analysis and Public Finance from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University. Her dissertation research focused on measuring the wealth building behaviors of individuals from low and moderate income households in conjunction with their indexed financial capability, measured through a unique scale that highlighted individual financial understanding and financial choices. Currently, her research interests lie in the areas of poverty policy, socio-economic outcomes, and financial capability and literacy. Prior to the completion of her doctoral degree, Dr. Sims was a Governor鈥檚 Policy Fellow with the Maryland Department of Budget and Management. Dr. Sims is a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers. She worked previously in the juvenile justice and social services fields, serving children, youth and families in the residential and clinical treatment settings in both Missouri and Indiana for more than eight years.
