Professor Diego Rodriguez-Pinzon in Ghent: Symposium Explores Evidentiary Regimes in UN Treaty Bodies with Focus on Committee Against Torture

Professor Diego Rodriguez-Pinzon participated in the symposium 鈥淓videntiary regimes of the YUN Treaty Bodies: Perspectives from research and practice鈥 that took place in Ghent, Belgium.

The event was hosted by Dissect, an initiative of the University of Ghent, as part of its project 鈥淓vidence in International Human Rights Adjudication.鈥 The event was attended by experts from around the world, including Hilary Gbedemah (member and former chair of the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), Matthew Gillett (member of the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention), Octavian Ichim (Human Rights Officer at the UN, OHCHR Petitions and Urgent Actions Section), as well as academics from Essex University, Harvard University, Nelson Mandela University, Edinburg University, Chinese University of Hong King, University of Antwerp, Hertie School Berlin, University of Helsinki, Postdam University, Baku State University, Koc University, National University of Colombia, Birkbeck University, Deusto University, and Lund University.听

The event was attended by experts from around the world, including Hilary Gbedemah (member and former chair of the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), Matthew Gillett (member of the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention), among others.

The symposium was also attended by officers of civil society organizations such as the International Federation of Human Rights (FIDH), the International Service for Human Rights (ISHR), and the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights, among others. Discussions were held under Chatham听House rules and will result in a publication on the subject of the symposium.
