Undergraduate Alumni
Roxanne Alvarez went on to earn a Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Chicago and a Master鈥檚 degree in Economics from George Mason University. Amanda Brown has been working as a laboratory technician at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory on Long Island since graduating from AU. She works in a neuroscience lab that does research on multisensory integration in humans, rats, and mice.
Shaina Fieldstone served as a Health Volunteer for the Peace Corps in Malawi following her time at AU, and has also worked as a Research Coordinator at Johns Hopkins. She is now a PhD Clinical Psychology student at Nova Southeastern University.
Johanna Foster went on to complete an MA in Applied Sociology from AU and a doctorate in Sociology from Rutgers University. She currently teaches at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ, where she specializes in the sociology of race, class, and gender inequalities.
Nora Gibson is graduating from AU this May and is planning to work as a research assistant for a year before attending medical school in the fall of 2013.
Nicole Joseph received her MA and PsyD in clinical psychology from the 猫咪社区app School of Professional Psychology in Arlington, VA. She has worked as a psychologist at the Fairfax County Veterans Administration, the Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute, the Donald Delaney Eating Disorders Clinic of Children鈥檚 National Medical Center, and the State of Maryland Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents. She has worked at the Child and Family Counseling Group in Fairfax, VA, since 2010.
Jennifer Kane received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from George Mason University. Her research focused on growth after trauma. After completing an internship at Johns Hopkins University's counseling center, she joined the Capital Institute for Cognitive Therapy, a CBT-based group practice in Washington, DC. She also conducts telephone interviews for the National Survey on Drug Use and Mental Health.
Robyn LeBoeuf received a MA in Psychology in 1999 and a PhD in Psychology in 2002, both from Princeton University. She is currently an Associate Professor and JC Penney Professor of Marketing at the University of Florida鈥檚 Warrington College of Business. Her research has focused on the psychology of judgment and decision making.
Mark Miller is currently a Staff Psychologist in the Behavioral Sciences Division of the National Center for PTSD at the VA Boston Healthcare System, and an Associate Professor of Psychiatry in the Boston University School of Medicine. After AU, he received his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Florida State University. His current research is focused on the structure of PTSD comorbidity and the influence of personality and genetics on the etiology and expression of post-traumatic psychopathology. He is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Traumatic Stress and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Abnormal Psychology.
Alison Muckle has been living in DC聽and working as a researcher since graduating from AU in 2005. She has spent the past four years at the Bethesda-based National Opinion Research Center researching health care, mental health, and substance abuse. She is currently a Senior Research Analyst. Prior to working at the NORC, she worked at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in a sleep lab testing stimulant drugs, and at George Washington University鈥檚 Center for Family Research on a study of parent-child health and anxiety.
Jen Poirier received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Kansas.
Lori (Burns) Rafferty worked at AU for five years after graduation in the Office of Development, and was Associate Director of Annual 猫咪社区app when she left to stay home with her daughter in August of 2010. She will be finishing her Master鈥檚 degree in Health Promotion Management from AU this spring and is expecting her second child in May.
Leah Rothschild has worked as a post-baccalaureate research fellow at National Institute of Mental Health since leaving AU. She works in the Pediatrics and Developmental Neuroscience lab, assisting with studies related to autism and Pediatric Autoimmune Disorder Associated with Streptococcal Infection (PANDAS). She is planning to return to school for a doctorate in Clinical Psychology this coming Fall.
Lia West participated in Americorps for a year after leaving AU, and then earned her teaching credential from Humboldt State University. She has been teaching first grade for 4 years in East Oakland, California, and now uses her statistics skills to analyze data from benchmark exams.
